Mikado wedding dresses are a hot trend this season, as are minis, maximalism and texture – this stunning look has it all
There are so many new names at Bridal Week Harrogate 2024, and one of the labels that Bridal Buyer is excited to meet is Ariamo. We love the styling behind the brand – sleek lines, fresh silhouettes and fashion forward takes on wedding day dressing.
The new Ariamo Light All or Nothing collection celebrates elegant minimalism, capturing timeless trends for the modern bride who loves simplicity, without losing their fashion-forward edge. The label tells us: “It brings together a variety of minimalist dress styles, offering different silhouettes and fabrics. What makes this collection special is lots of handmade floral accessories and details in most of the dresses, so that every bride can find her perfect match.”
This week, we’ve fallen in love with not just one, but two stunning pieces from the new collection – which together make up Ariamo Light Style L417. They work perfectly as a head-turning outfit, but can easily be worn alone or together with different pieces.
The precisely cut mini dress has an almost 90s aesthetic with its square neck and tailored silhouette, which has seams cleverly placed to look almost like corset boning. “Both pieces are crafted from Mikado, a fabric that’s perfect for creating complex corsets and lush skirts as it holds its shape beautifully,” explains the fashion house. “The dress silhouette appears simple at first glance, but if you look closer, the stitching is what truly shapes it, highlighting the body’s best features.”
This elegant form contrasts in perfect dynamism with the coat/cape – which fits that maximalist trend with its beautiful volume. “The dress itself is minimalist and universal, not just for weddings, but the cape brings a ’princess’ vibe with its long train, striking decorations and numerous buttons on puff sleeves,” Ariamo tells us.
While there are so many elements to swoon over, one of our favourite features is the coat sleeves, and the amazing texture and movement they add. So how did this design element develop? Ariamo tells us: “We wanted to add something bold and eye-catching to enhance the look and make it truly special. Even with a simple dress, every bride wants to feel extraordinary and unforgettable. The sleeves were designed to create that impression – they’re meant to leave a lasting memory.”
The structure of the mini dress is another impressive element, and the designer explains the triumph of this is down to careful planning and material selection. “The structure comes down to the fabric and layout – Mikado is wonderfully ‘obedient,’ allowing us to craft unique, and sometimes unexpected, shapes and forms. We have also created a complex layout for cutting and carefully put everything together with a precise stitching.”
