29 Atelier

29 Atelier

Designer: Elizabeth Ruddick

Elizabeth Ruddick has crafted her brand with the concept of making bespoke and couture bridal designs accessible to her clients. With an archive collection of iconic shapes and silhouettes, 29 Atelier combines classical looks with new seasonal trends to create elegant, imaginative and inclusive styles to enhance the beauty of each bride.

Each of these designs begin in 29 Atelier’s own in-house workshop before being sourced and produced locally in the UK - using hand-finishing techniques, such as delicate pin hems and hand appliques, as well as using ethically sourced materials.

As a female designer, Elizabeth emphasises the importance of understanding her brides as women. 29 Atelier prides itself on the label’s bespoke service where from initial consultation, the bride’s body type, wedding theme and personality are at the centre of all design decisions. Elizabeth’s brides are given the power and freedom to achieve their perfect bridal look – whether it is a set of tailored trousers and jacket or an extravagant fairy-tale bridal gown.

29 Atelier’s 2023 Collection, 'London in Bloom' is playful, and holds joyful trimmings like fringing and feathers.

A LA ROBE

A LA ROBE

Designer: Elizabeth Soljak

Elizabeth Soljak, originally from New Zealand, creates timeless designs with her eye for chic minimalism. After completing design school and working in the fashion industry, she started A La Robe as a fashion label but very quickly found customers wanted to order her designs in white to wear as brides.
A La Robe garments are designed in France and handcrafted in A La Robe’s ateliers in France and Australia. Designed in the fashion capital, each dress is made of heavy silk satin and silk crepe Marocain, and every gown is fully lined in silk crepe de chine. Elizabeth designs her pieces with a minimalist aesthetic, and creates elegant and flowing shapes that flatter her brides and create statement pieces out of simplicity.

Alan Hannah

Alan Hannah

Designer: Marguerite Hannah

Marguerite has over 25 years of experience and is one of the leading couturiers in England today. Marguerite has been awarded Designer of the Year on seven occasions, and continues to create forward thinking and show stopping designs. Marguerite's love for high couture and theatre design lends itself to the dramatic and glamourous designs seen in Alan Hannah’s collections, where the bride is placed centre stage. Marguerite aims to represent the modern woman in her designs that reflect power and creativity.

The heart and soul of Marguerite’s collections is the techniques and designs that hold historical and cultural value, whether it be beading techniques from India, fabric from small mills in France and Italy or paintings from Spain.

Daughters of Simone

Daughters of Simone

Designers: Ashley and Brittany Castanos

Daughters of Simone is led by design duo Ashley and Brittany Castanos. The sisters began Daughters of Simone 10 years ago, with the passion to shake up the linear order of the wedding industry. The brand’s name is inspired by Simone de Beauvoir, one of the most influential feminists in history.

The designs look to emulate the free-spirited childhood of Ashley and Brittany – the designs evoke feelings of playful rebelliousness, a 'never give up' theology, and lawless creativity. The silhouettes are inspired by the free-flowing era of the 1970’s, an era of feminist movement and rebellion, with fabrics comprised of scalloped crochet-laces and buttery silks.

The resilience of the female spirit runs throughout Daughters of Simone’s collections, creating iconic looks for brides that want to stand out and express their powerful femininity.

Eliza Jane Howell

Eliza Jane Howell

Designer: Gill Harvey

Gill Harvey is the woman behind the designs of Eliza Jane Howell. Gill is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, and first gained international success with her Medici knitwear collection.

In 2012 Eliza Jane Howell was launched, named after Gill Harvey’s grandmother who was also a fashion designer. Each gown is beautifully hand-beaded, and some are hand-embroidered, using both exquisite traditional and modern techniques and patterns. It is this combination of old and new that makes Eliza Jane Howell dresses stand the test of time – Gill Harvey looks to make dresses that become an heirloom piece to be passed on to the next generation.

In 2016, Gill Harvey was voted Best Bridal Designer for her designs for Eliza Jane Howell in the first ever UK Wedding Awards. Again, in 2017, Eliza Jane Howell was voted Best Bridal Designer for the second year in a row – a true testament to Gill Harvey’s classic and iconic designs.
