New Name: On display at Harrogate for the first time, this label is romantic and versatile, with a range of bold takes on classic silhouettes…
Bridal Week is always a time for discovering emerging designers, and this March, our eyes are on Nova Belle by April Banbury Bridal. The collection effortlessly blends romance with fashion-forward elegance – the result is a line that allows brides to achieve a classic look with a bold edge, all while showcasing their individual personalities.
The fabrics chosen for this collection are a reflection of April’s personal favourites: textural and luxurious. She tells us that each fabric was carefully selected to create gowns that feel magical. "Beautiful laces were used throughout, including Chantilly, embroidered and corded lace," says April. "A gorgeous jacquard is also featured, giving a very soft romantic feel, and handmade 3D flowers were carefully curated and placed. Each fabric in my collection was chosen for its beauty, texture and timeless elegance."
In terms of structure and silhouette, a recurring motif throughout Nova Belle by April Banbury Bridal is the pointed Basque waistline, a shape known for its flattering effect on all kinds of figures. The moulded shape creates the illusion of a cinched waist, while remaining comfortable around the tummy area.
Bows are featured prominently across the collection, too, which April tells us adds a feminine and playful touch. "They are detachable, so brides can mix up their look throughout the day – a popular trend for 2025," April tells us. "There are also detachable sleeves and straps, which again allow brides to create small changes to their look throughout the day: a long lace sleeve for the ceremony and then an off-shoulder strap for the reception."
When she was first conceiving the collection, April was determined to create dresses with lightweight construction to boost wearability without compromising on aesthetics. To achieve this, she selected lightweight, breathable fabrics and incorporated soft linings, together with seamless construction. "Combining style and comfort was an extremely important aspect for me, so those with back problems, like myself, can still experience their princess moment in comfort," she says. "It was also important for me to be inclusive of a curve range, up to size 32+, bringing together beautiful structure, flattering designs, and comfort."
Together with this notion of wearability, April wanted the collection to be adaptable, so that whoever was wearing it could shape it to fit in with their own wedding day vision. This is why the collection allows for interchangeable features. The designer says: "If a bride likes the bodice of one dress and the skirt and/or sleeves of another, if it’s structurally possible, I can create a unique design for them. Keeping things personal to them; making them feel beautiful inside and out."
One of April’s favourite things about the collection is crafting beautiful looks from effortless silhouettes. "I enjoy fluid, flattering silhouettes that sculpt and enhance the natural beauty of the bride, while allowing grace and ease," she says.
Among the collection’s many stunning pieces, one dress stands out as the perfect representation of April’s vision: the Allura gown. With an off-the-shoulder neckline and sheer lace sleeves, it channels vintage glamour while remaining effortlessly chic. "This gown embodies the perfect harmony between modern romance and timeless elegance," says April. "The fabric choice was intentional: light, breathable layers of tulle and lace create a gown that looks luxurious but feels comfortable, so a bride can feel confident and at ease throughout her special day." The delicate floral lace appliqués add a soft, feminine touch, while the A-line silhouette is designed to flatter a variety of body shapes.
