We first got to know BAÉ at White Gallery 2024; the Bridal Buyer team was intrigued by the fresh, interchangeable styles that the label offered, not to mention the clean lines and cool girl aesthetic. We loved the debut collection, and it is no surprise – we have always held Katya Katya in high esteem, and BAÉ is from the same dynamic duo, Katya Shehurina and Marina Kvasova.

BAÉ was launched specifically for modern brides who are seeking versatility, elegance and individuality. Pieces in the collection can be worn together, mixed and matched, transformed with one of the clever detachable elements and be worn again and again, long after the wedding day. It’s a line that has really tapped into what the Gen Z bride adores: clever, functional, fresh styles.

Come with us as we meet Katya Shehuring and talk through some of the pieces that define the new collection.

Innovative Designs

BAÉ Bridal’s latest collection, Origami Noir, exemplifies the brand’s commitment to innovation and adaptability. A particularly alluring piece is the large, perfectly folded bow. As Katya Shehurina tells us: "We’ve introduced this big, beautiful kimono bow, which is a great feature and still offers clean lines. You can add it to dresses and other pieces in the collection, and it can be positioned on the shoulders or maybe to the waist – each way creating a completely different outfit.”

The collection features a number of these versatile accessories, which will allow brides to personalise their look, adding a touch of architectural elegance that is totally transformative.

Another highlight from Origami Noir is the Juno dress, crafted from luxurious Mikado, which we loved paired with the detachable tulle skirt. This design offers flexibility to transition from a more formal ceremony look to a more relaxed reception style. “Those skirts are so versatile,” says Katya. “You can put them on, like, it’s a long dress and then you take it off and you can wear the dress again for the wedding and in the future.”

Another element that can be used to complement the Juno dress is the Camellia Broch, a beautiful and detailed flower, which adds a bold and pretty touch, and can be repositioned for different styling options. "You can attach it to the skirt, you can attach it to the bust area, the shoulder, the hip,” says Katya “It is really versatile and easy to wear after your wedding day."

Grace is a full length dress with a sleek strapless silhouette, finishing in a striking mermaid-tail bottom, a perfect piece to further showcases BAÉ’s dedication to modern elegance. "It’s like a column at the front and then a little train that softly flows out,” explains Katya. “We style it in three different ways, with the broch, the bow or with a tulle top – which makes it look and feel completely different."

For brides seeking a non-traditional twist, the Rose Blazer stands out. Adorned with rose-inspired detailing on the shoulders and crafted from BAE’s signature Mikado fabric, the blazer adds a contemporary edge to bridal styling. It would look great with the label’s Onx trousers, or over one of the mini dresses. “All our pieces are made from Mikado. We chose it as it has the slightest, beautiful sheen that elevates it. Plus it is very easy in terms of maintaining; you can even wash Mikado and it doesn’t crease too much,” says Katya.

Reflections On Versatility

For modern retailers and their brides, BAÉ Bridal’s appeal lies in its commitment to versatility and contemporary design. Each piece in the collection has been thoughtfully created to allow brides to express their unique personality, whether they’re drawn to minimalist silhouettes, architectural embellishments, or adaptable pieces that can transition from ceremony to reception – and very importantly, worn long after the big day.

Origami Noir is the perfect name for the line, which is all about careful drapes, folds and adaptability. And happily, these are qualities that align perfectly with the needs of modern customers who seek increasing levels of flexibility. The joy of the pieces is in the accessibility and wearability, that magical mix and match element that, when done right, provides myriad stying opportunities.

As BAÉ Bridal continues to grow, it’s clear that the brand doesn’t want to create what people might ‘expect’ from bridalwear. It is about offering luxurious and elevated pieces that, while special, aren’t only suitable for a wedding, but for wearing long into the future – as the label says: “Dresses that celebrate special moments, designed to be cherished and worn repeatedly.”
