Cool, undone and rooted in vintage references, British designer Charlier Brear has a distinct handwriting. Her styling always felt relaxed, fashion-led and instinctively modern, and now, she returns to the spotlight with fresh energy and a new concept debuting at Bridal Week London. The designs are still recognisably ’her’, there is the thoughtful construction, beautiful fabrics and the laid-back cool edge. The vibe is styling that feels effortless rather than overly formal, but it has evolved into something even more confident and more commercially focused.

This confidence is unsurprising: fashion runs in Charlie’s blood. Her maternal grandmother worked as a seamstress for the legendary Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1930s. She began her own fashion career in styling, working at MTV before moving on to style high-budget commercial and music productions. Her introduction to bridal came almost by accident, she was sourcing vintage wedding dresses for a music video in the early 2000s – it revealed a clear gap in the market for something more alternative and fashion-led. She launched her own label soon after, debuting her collections at White Gallery in 2011 and helping pioneer the concept of modular bridal styling. Now in 2026, a new chapter starts.

Introducing THEWN

At Bridal Week London, Charlie will introduce a fresh concept under the name THEWN. She tells us: “I’m incredibly excited to introduce THEWN (pronounced only for those in the know as THE ONE) as a new starting point for the evolution of my design handwriting – a focused capsule built around best-selling silhouettes and styling pieces that we know truly work on the shop floor. It’s a confident re-entry into the market, with clarity and competitiveness around price point, identity and wearability. For me, this first season is all about strength in simplicity and reconnecting with retailers through pieces that are modern, relevant and commercially intelligent.”

The collection reflects the designer’s long-standing design philosophy: strong structure balanced with softness and versatility. “The capsule collection centres around clean architecture, sculpted femininity and modular styling,” she says  “Silhouettes are refined rather than ornate; contemporary A-lines, elevated sheaths, a directional jumpsuit... All with detachable elements and styling additions that allow brides (and retailers) to create multiple looks from one core piece. It’s about versatility without compromise on elegance. It’s the strength of an original design aesthetic that is the perfect fit and in the showroom, never lets you down.”

Pieces Designed To Perform

Two key looks in the capsule perfectly capture the brand’s direction. Charlie tells us that, firstly, the jumpsuit is a key statement: “It reflects the modern bride’s desire for confidence and individuality while still feeling undeniably bridal. Styled with an overskirt for the ceremony the bride has the best of both a dress for her big entrance and the freedom to dance her night away after.”

The second look she notes is a sculpted twist bodice gown with a softly structured skirt. “It is made in slipper satin, which perfectly captures the balance I love – precision tailoring meeting fluid femininity. These pieces really represent THEWN’s identity: assured, wearable and beautifully cut.”

Retail Notes

For Charlie Brear, Bridal Week London is as much about conversation and connection as it is about showcasing design. She tells us: “I’m really looking forward to honest conversations about sell-through, margins and what brides are truly responding to right now. Retailers are navigating a very nuanced market, and I’ve always believed design and commerciality should sit hand in hand.”

Regarding working with retailers, Charlie tells us that her core goal is partnership, not placement. She hopes that, after meeting her and seeing the collection, that retailers feel THEWN is considered, supportive and strategically built for them, not just creatively, but commercially.

Looking ahead, the designer believes bridal will continue moving towards clarity and intention. “I see bridal becoming more intentional. Brides are increasingly discerning, they want quality, clarity of identity and pieces that feel like authentic forever pieces rather than trend-driven,” she says. “There’s a shift toward modern minimalism with strong silhouette work, elevated separates, and adaptable styling that allows for ceremony-to-evening transformation.”

She concludes: “For me, the future of bridal lies in confident simplicity.”
