Opulence and elegance, but with a twist. We adore the new collection from Elbeth Gillis, especially the versatility thanks to the mix and match styles – take a closer look at the Elle corset with Priscilla, Eva and Elaine Skirts
Mix and match styles, as well as versatility in general, is big news in bridal. So nearly-weds searching for a style that blends versatility with timeless elegance will adore the Elle Bodice, paired with a choice of three stunning skirts: Priscilla, Eva and Elaine. Part of the Opulence Serenity collection by Elbeth Gillis, this ensemble offers a fresh take customisable bridalwear, offering a stunning and changeable wedding day look.
Taking inspiration from Dior’s iconic 1947 “New Look” and historical costume design, Elbeth Gillis’ Opulence Serenity collection is a blend of past and present. “Each gown intricately weaves together corsetry with brocades, embroidery with tales of the past, and sculpted fabrics with a slight fairytale appeal,” explains the designer. The collection captures the essence of refined elegance, while providing contemporary brides with the flexibility to tailor their dream wedding look.
At the heart of this look is the Elle bodice, a structured, off-the-shoulder wedding day corset crafted from luxurious duchess satin. It provides a sculpted yet romantic foundation, offering brides the freedom to mix and match with a variety of skirts to create their own unique style.
The choice of duchess satin was integral to the design, ensuring both structure and fluidity in each skirt. “Duchess satin allows for impeccable draping, while ostrich feathers bring an element of fun and movement to the Priscilla skirt,” says Elbeth. One of the standout techniques used in crafting this collection is the innovative draping on the Elaine skirt, which adds to its regal yet contemporary appeal.
The concept behind the Elle bodice and its accompanying skirts was deeply influenced by historical fashion—specifically, dropped waists and corsetry. “The design evolved with the needs of the modern bride in mind. We wanted to give her the freedom to choose her dress and change it up, transitioning seamlessly from the ceremony to the afterparty,” says the designer. This ability to swap skirts allows brides to create multiple looks with just one foundational piece.
While the look exudes grandeur, comfort was a key consideration in its design. “The skirts are made out of lightweight fabric, making them easy to move in. The train is a very comfortable length, and the corset ensures the bride feels secure while accentuating her figure,” says Elbeth. This balance of structure and ease allows brides to feel both confident and comfortable throughout their special day.
When asked which element of the design will make brides feel their best, the designer is clear: “I believe that the Elle bodice will make the bride feel most confident as it accentuates her figure.” The structured corsetry sculpts and supports, ensuring an effortlessly elegant fit.
One of the most exciting aspects of this style is its mix-and-match versatility. “My favourite element is that you can mix and match within this collection. The fact that it is so versatile is something that really stands out to me.” Whether opting for the playfulness of Priscilla, the regal elegance of Eva, or the drama of Elaine, brides can craft a look that feels uniquely their own.
